Record 372 Coronavirus Cases in Greece; Emergency Partial Lockdowns
This is the highest number of cases recorded in the country in a 24-hour-period since the very beginning of the pandemic.
A shocking 112 of these new cases stem from an outbreak of the virus in a factory in Giannitsa on Tuesday.
Another outbreak, numbering 34 cases, was detected on Thursday at a different factory in the Athenian suburb of Aspropyrgos.
Due to this disturbing increase in cases, four regions of Northern Greece, including Pella, Imathia, Pieria, and Kilkis, will be under partial lockdown measures starting on Friday.
The measures include mandatory use of masks in both indoor and outdoor spaces, a limit of nine people in any gathering, and an end to any events that involve crowding, such as church services, outdoor markets, and parties.
All bars, cafes, and restaurants must be closed from midnight until 7 am in these areas beginning on Friday.
When these establishments are open, only four people can sit together at one table. If the group is made up of close relatives, however, six people are allowed to sit together.
