Art deco on the Saint-Lambert square

Located near the town hall of the 15th arrondissement, the Saint-Lambert square is apparently a green space as there are hundreds in Paris. And yet, focusing closer to its history and architecture, we realize that it is much more interesting than others.
Instead of the square and the streets around it, once stood an old gas plant , that of Vaugirard , opened in 1835 and decommissioned in 1927. It makes you discover this beautiful park registered to  historical monuments .

Just like Choisy park that was built on the site of the old gas plant of Ivry in 1937, the Square Saint-Lambert is emblematic of the urbanization policy conducted by the City of Paris in 1930  : conversion of  former industrial areas abandoned by living places ventilated and hygienic.
The square built on the ruins of the old factory at Vaugirard gas and the buildings built around him, had to be both functional, comfortable, beautiful and inexpensive. It is in a neighborhood populated by cheap buildings  typical of the late Art Deco 1930-ta Deco Art1930 proves that the Square Saint-Lambert, listed monuments since 1997.

At its inception in 1933, the architect Georges Sébille wanted the place to be stimulating and able to meet future residents. And the least we can say is that it has succeeded. Even today, it is a family meeting points , thanks to the presence of many facilities arranged with care.

Major central lawns accessible, well-shaded alleys filled several benches, games for children, ping pong tables, a carousel, an outdoor theater and a lovely pool. In short, all the paraphernalia of the perfect square area, with two features: a view of the Eiffel Tower  and Art Deco details that really embellish the whole.

The garden also features several sculptures  including a lovely work of Victor Peter representing two cubs spirited fun and a bas-relief made by Auguste Guénot in 1939. In short, a nice green space area that we like as much for its history for its calm and pleasant atmosphere.
